Construction of Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway in full swing, Nitin Gadkari visits the site – Details inside
Greenfield corridor building between Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Dholera is currently in full swing. The construction of the 109 kilometre long road will cost Rs 4,200 crore. This would serve as a crucial link between a number of Ahmedabad and Dholera region special investment zones.
With the construction of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, the travel time between the two cities would be possible at high speeds and cut from the current two and a half hours to around an hour. Additionally, it will offer direct access to the Dholera airport. This is one of the reasons why there is a rise in the demand of the dholera sir residential plots.
This motorway is expected to be 120 metres wide, of which 90 metres will be used for the motorway and the remaining 30 metres will be used for a future railway corridor.
The highway connects Navagam’s Dholera International Airport and Sardar Patel Ring Road, which is close to the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), with Sarkhej. Thus, the motorway will also help to speed up industrial activity in Dholera and Ahmedabad.
After touring the building site and speaking with the media, union minister Gadkari stated that the highway project’s completion goal is January 2024. According to him, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is the country’s first high-speed, integrated multimodal corridor that combines both a railroad and a motorway.
One can anticipate that this integration of the rail line with the motorway will eventually open the door for an RRTS corridor that runs from Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar via Dholera.
Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway stretch near Kavitha village was visited by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. One hour will be saved in travel time thanks to this four-lane motorway. Currently, the travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera is 2.25 hours.
Road to development
A direct connection to the Dholera Green Field Airport will be made possible by road. The road connects Navagam’s Dholera International Airport and Sardar Patel Ring Road, which are both close to the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), with Sarkhej.
By giving people employment possibilities, the initiative will help boost regional economic growth. It will also support the development of the tourism industry. By January 2024, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway project should be finished.
Katihar Bypass approved
On National Highway 81 in Bihar, the government has approved spending Rs 232.831 crores to build the Katihar Bypass. The construction of the four-lane project will cut the distance between Katihar Town and the surrounding area by up to 15 minutes. Due to traffic congestion and roadblocks, it currently takes close to 45 minutes to get through the town. Additionally, it lowers fuel consumption.
The minister has asked for everyone’s help in lowering traffic accidents by 50% by the end of 2025.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway, and the Tharad-Ahmedabad Expressway are other motorways that are currently being built.
Thursday saw the official groundbreaking for the 65.5 km (from Badadal to Maradagi S Andola) National Highway-150C stretch. The Surat-Chennai Expressway includes this six-lane Greenfield Road project, which is being built at a cost of roughly Rs 2,000 crore.
