Dholera Expecting Fresh Investments from EV Component Manufacturers in Coming Months

Dholera’s Super investment Region (SIR) is burgeoning as a prominent investment hub. This region offers a plethora of opportunities and exposure to the manufacturing and automobile industries. Mr Hareet Shukla, MD, Dholera Industrial City Development Limited, said, “Gujarat Industrial Policy 2020 and the Gujarat Electric Vehicle Policy 2021 make Gujarat an attractive destination for the manufacturing sector, especially the electric vehicles segment.”

During the conference, Mr Shukla also informed TOI that they are expecting many fresh and intriguing investments in DholeraSIR for EV component manufacturing. He also added that they are on talking terms with many companies and within the next three months, new projects will be finalized. Experts also think that the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme will go a long way if it gets good investments in EV manufacturing.

Mr Raghavan Viswanathan, the director at KPMG India, also claimed that the PLI scheme has been announced to boost manufacturing in the EV sector. He also believes that this is a key driver to enhance the growth of the DholeraSIR region. This will certainly impact the entire growth and flourishment of DholeraSIR if the companies will spend a hefty amount on EV manufacturing.

The TOI report has confirmed that many eminent battery and component manufacturers from different parts of the country are interested in investing in DholeraSIR. Tata Group has already committed an investment of Rs 4,000 crore to set up a lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant at Dholera SIR. Many other manufacturing companies are also trying to invest here to boost up the growth.

In June, the state government of Gujarat had proudly announced a new electric vehicle policy. This new policy vows subsidies worth Rs 870 crore for electric vehicle manufacturing and for setting up charging points in various places of the state.

In the upcoming years, many more manufacturing companies are planning to set up their businesses in DholeraSIR by investing a humongous amount. The government is also offering various support and assistance to make DholeSIR a promising industrial hub.
