EoI Invited At Gujarat For Development Of Dholera Solar Park!

The Distinctive Facets of the 5,000 MW Solar Park to be Created at Dholera

A report in July 2018 revealed that Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) would issue its first 1000 MW tender in August this year. Jai Prakash Shivahare, managing director of Dholera Industrial City Development Corporation (DICDC) informed PTI then that This is going to be the largest single-location ultra mega solar park of 5,000 MW in the country. We are hopeful of inviting bids for the first 1,000 MW in the next one month.

Consequently, expressions of interest or EoI are invited by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) from project developers for construction of a 1,000 MW solar PV project. The proposed project will grow up at Dholera city in Gujarat increasing more and more opportunities for the Dholera residential plots as well as the state of Gujarat.

15th October is set as the last date of EoI submission to the concerned authority. In this respect, Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) is the pivotal agency in-charge of the solar park development. The solar PV project when complete will sell its power to GUVNL.

After the closing date of EoI, the selection procedure will take place with bidding and reverse e-auction as the final stage. The documents for bidding will be prepared only after consultation with the developers who are participating in the EoI and its meetings.

As and when the documents have been evaluated the date, time and venue of the meeting will be notified. All developers eager to be a part of the bidding process will have to attend this meet. Only then they will be counted eligible.

In the earlier part of April, 2018 the Mercom informed that Gujarat government has approved the establishment of the 5000 MW solar park. As per reports, more than 27000 acres will be covered for the project with an investment of approximately $3.84 billion or ₹250 billion. The completed project will offer employment opportunities to more than 20,000 individuals. Not only that, the project will open an array of opportunities in residential projects in Dholera SIR and the surrounding areas for total supply chain of manufacturing units.

If reports from Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker are to be believed Gujarat already has almost 1.4 GW solar projects in operation. Over 500 MW are under development. In 2017 solar installations totaled up to just 282 MW in the state. The solar RPO is restricted to 4.25 percent for the FY 2018-2019.
