Grew Energy to Invest Rs 5,400 Cr in Solar Manufacturing Over Next 3 Years

Grew Energy is a Gujarat based company specialising in solar energy production. It has planned to invest more than Rs 5400 crore to set up 4 gigawatts (GW) of solar module manufacturing capacity with backward integration in Jaipur and Dholera, as expressed by its director Vinay Thadani.

In an exclusive interaction with Mr. Thadani, he said that they are looking at a 4 GW solar module capacity in the upcoming three to four years time. And this will be supported by the backward integration of 3 GW of solar cells and 2 GW of ingot wafers.
He added to his comments that backward integration will serve as the module facility and that the further integration of the capacity will be sold in the market which would be of 4 GW of solar modules.

The entire investment needed for the set up will be close to Rs 5400 crore and needs to be done in a phased manner which will be spread across three years. Speaking about his plans, he also said that the company is looking for setting up the first 2GW near Jaipur, Rajasthan and the rest of the backward integration and other forward facilities at Dholera, Gujarat.

Elaborating on their scheme of expansion, he said that they are setting up the first facility of 1 GW of solar modules near Jaipur in a village called Dudu as there is a huge range of fields available. If everything goes according to the plan and procedure, they will build up the 2 GW facility there. The next and the rest of the backward integration and all forward facilities will be at Gujarat’s Dholera in the Dholera Industrial City Development Park.

Talking more about the investment, Mr. Thadani said that the decision to expand in Dholera has been made considering the availability of power, water and other world-class infrastructure facilities here. Grew Energy recently has won approval from SECI for allocation of 2 GW of domestic PV modules capacity under the trache – II of teh solar PLI scheme. The company is planning for a manufacturing facility as well that will have the production capacity of 4 GW of modules, 3 GW of cells and 300 tonnes tempered glass per day.
