Ro-Ro Ferry Service Offers An Invaluable Gift To India
All the Gujarati’s living in Dahej here is some great news for you! The Prime minister Narendra Modi on his 3rd visit to Gujarat last month & announced that there would be a development of projects worth Rs. 2000 crore. The beloved PM also inaugurated the state’s first roll-on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry service. This is a Rs. 650 crore initiative which the PM called his “dream project”. This project is said to minimize the distance between Gujarat towns, Ghogha and Dahej.
A Detail About The Project
This ferry service between Ghogha and Dahej is of immense importance to the country though it may seem to be nothing of that sort. The PM has even claimed it to be an “invaluable gift to India” and also for the South-East Asia. On that day the PM went to Dahej from Ghogha in the newly launched ferry service.
Later he took a stop at Vadodara where he announced another developmental project costing over Rs. 1,140 crores. The main attraction of these projects is the initiation of a multi-level transport hub called Jan Mahal and some water supply and purification projects.
Benefit Of The Ferry Service
The total distance between Ghogha and Dahej is 31 km. Contrary to the on-road distance of 310 km, with the introduction of the ferry service, the travel time will be cut down to one from nearly eight long hours. This will be a huge benefit for the people who work in the diamond cutting and polishing hub.
In the first phase of the service the passengers will be ferried and in the second phase which is expected to start in two months will ferry cars. Another phase will be added later to ferry trucks said the Chief Executive Officer of the Gujarat Maritime Board, Ajay Bhadoo. All thanks to PM Modi as he had dreamt of a developed Gujarat in every way and wanted to establish a better waterway.
